For certain treatment both Epsom salt or Magnesium Chloride may be given however you need to consult your doctor before administering them. There can be few side effects with Magnesium chloride. Epsom salt has been approved by FDA as it is considered to be safe for consumption. However you must read the instructions carefully so that you do not get over constipation.

On the other hand magnesium Chloride should be taken after considering other drugs you must be taking for particularly thyroid medication and few other antibiotics. Your doctor can decide about the right dosage and the right kind of drug to be taken.

As a supplement both magnesium sulfate and magnesium chloride may be considered as similar supplement but they are used for different purposes. Epsom salt is generally meant for softening the skin and growing larger flower in garden.
